Apple is preparing to launch its customized Apple Intelligence model in China soon, according to TechCrunch.

Reports last year confirmed that Apple has chosen Alibaba to run features of Apple Intelligence in China. According to a new report published by Reuters, Apple has completed the training of a large language model (LLM) tailored for China, which will rely on Alibaba’s Qwen AI model.

This development is particularly significant as it makes Apple the first foreign company to receive approval from Chinese regulators to offer its own AI model in China.

Apple is expected to launch customized features of Apple Intelligence for China within the coming months, through a future software update for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro users.

Earlier this week, Apple published a guide explaining how Mac users in China can link Alibaba’s Qwen model with Siri.

This move also represents a shift from Apple's current AI strategy, which relies on external AI models such as Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
