China successfully launched a new satellite into space today, Monday, from the «Taiyuan» Satellite Launch Center in the northern province of Shanxi to support remote sensing and Earth observation fields.

The Chinese news agency «Xinhua» stated that the satellite was launched at 11:02 a.m. (Beijing time) on board a Long March-2C carrier rocket, entering its planned orbit accurately and successfully.

The new satellite is used to collect high-precision geospatial data, monitor the environment, land, and natural resources, as well as support urban development plans and efforts to reduce the impact of natural disasters and early warning systems.

This important process is the 664th in the series of «Long March» rockets, which are the backbone of China's space program and widely used to deliver scientific and commercial cargoes into low Earth orbits that are synchronized with the sun through major launch platforms such as Taiyuan.
