The moon is 17 days old in its lunar cycle, still appearing full in the night sky with a 93% illumination level, despite having passed three days since it was full. The phases of the moon reveal how time passes in the night sky; on some nights, when we look at the moon, we see it as a bright full moon, and on other nights, we see it as just a silver crescent.

According to the “space” website, the four main lunar phases (new moon, first quarter, full moon, last quarter) occur approximately one week apart, and the full moon is the most beautiful phase.

The next lunar phase will be the "last quarter," also known as the third quarter, which will occur on Wednesday, July 8. During this phase of the moon, only its left half will appear illuminated when seen from Earth, but what we will see is just a quarter (half of a half) of the moon that will be illuminated at this stage.
