Google officially reveals Pixel Tag with UWB support and a battery that lasts for a whole year, according to TechCrunch.

Google has officially confirmed that the Pixel Tag, which was leaked earlier, is now an actual product. The company introduced it as a tracking device that helps users find their belongings, similar to Apple’s AirTag and Samsung’s Galaxy Tag.

The Pixel Tag relies on Google's Find Hub network to locate lost items. Google made the device from stainless steel with a design aimed at resisting bending and cracking. It has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.

The device supports Bluetooth connectivity, along with Bluetooth Channel Sounding technology and UWB technology, allowing more precise location tracking on compatible devices.

The Pixel Tag includes a built-in speaker that can emit sound to help users find it. It also has a button that, when pressed, makes the connected phone ring, which also helps locate the phone.

According to Google, the battery life is up to one year, and users can replace it themselves when needed.

To set up the Pixel Tag, simply pull out the battery tab and bring the device close to an Android phone running Android 9 or later. It automatically pairs via Google Fast Pair. The device can also be shared with up to 10 people, allowing family members or friends to easily track shared belongings.

Google also offers a “Leave Your Stuff Behind” reminder feature, which helps users avoid leaving their belongings behind in different places.

In terms of security, the phone will automatically send an alert when it detects an unknown Pixel Tag moving with the user. The phone will also explain how to play the tag’s sound to find it, along with providing instructions on what steps to take next.

The Pixel Tag is available for $29, while a package containing four devices can be purchased for $99. Google plans to start selling the device through the Google Store starting November 11.
