A recent report revealed that the Google Meet service is no longer limited to video meetings only. Google has introduced a new feature that allows the application to take meeting notes using artificial intelligence, helping participants focus on the discussion rather than manually recording every detail.

Gemini Takes Over Meeting Note-Taking

The new feature relies on Gemini, which starts recording what happens during the meeting after activating the note-taking option from the Google Meet application or via the browser. Upon completion of the meeting, the artificial intelligence organizes the content and converts it into a clear summary that includes the main points discussed and tasks to be implemented.

The feature can also create a full text of what was recorded and save the results in a new Google document within Google Drive. An email is sent to the user containing a link to the document, making it easy to refer back to meeting details at a later time.

Gradual Rollout by Operating System

Google started making the feature available for Android users from August 11, 2026. The rollout for web users began on August 14. For iPhone and iPad users, the feature is scheduled to become available starting August 31.

The AI note-taking feature is available within a range of paid plans, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Google AI Pro, Google AI Ultra for consumers, and Frontline Plus.

With this move, Google aims to expand Gemini's role within Meet, so that AI usage is not limited to online meetings but extends to traditional meetings as well, converting discussions into organized notes and summaries that can be easily referenced.
