Samsung has issued an official clarification regarding how it uses data from the Samsung Health app to train artificial intelligence models, following a wave of criticism over a message that appeared for some users last week.

The message asked users to agree to use their health data to train and develop AI technologies, noting that withdrawing consent would result in deleting health data and preventing it from being synchronized with the Samsung account, which raised widespread concerns about data privacy.

Samsung explained that the data collected for AI training purposes is completely separate from the data used to provide Samsung Health services, confirming that if a user withdraws their consent, only the data designated for AI development will be deleted and will not be used again.

The company also confirmed that the basic health data stored to operate Samsung Health services will remain preserved and will not be deleted, noting that it is working on modifying the text of the message within the app to make it more clear and accurate for users.

In contrast, Samsung did not directly address the issue of disabling cloud synchronization when withdrawing consent, but a report published by SamMobile suggested that synchronizing data with the cloud continues to work even after rejecting the use of data in AI training.
