SpaceX launched two Falcon 9 rockets, carrying a group of satellites, with only a difference of 38 minutes between them, from Florida and California.

The company said that the first Falcon 9 rocket was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying eight Global Star satellites into low Earth orbit; the satellites were successfully deployed over six minutes after about 56.5 minutes of launch.

It added that the second Falcon 9 rocket was launched from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, just 38 minutes after the first launch, to begin a mission called “USSF-366”.

Both missions saw successful landings of the rockets; the first stage of the first rocket landed at Cape Canaveral about eight minutes after launch, while the first stage of the second rocket landed on a company sea platform after about 8.5 minutes.

SpaceX noted that the first stage used in the first launch had made its fourteenth flight, while the first stage of the other rocket was making its eighteenth flight.

The two launches raised the number of Falcon 9 launches carried out by SpaceX this year to 96, with the vast majority dedicated to launching Starlink satellites.
