The artificial intelligence startup and company, Cerebras, has officially become a part of SpaceX, according to an announcement published on the Cerebras blog.

A massive deal that enhances SpaceX's capabilities

SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, which also acquired Musk’s xAI earlier this year, announced last April a joint development agreement between the two companies; the agreement also gave SpaceX an option to acquire Cerebras for $60 billion. Two months later, as SpaceX turned into a public company, both companies announced that they would move forward with the acquisition.

In its announcement of completing the deal, Cerebras repeatedly pointed out SpaceX’s computing infrastructure, which the company rented to clients including Anthropic and Google. (SpaceX is also facing a lawsuit related to pollution caused by gas turbines in its data center), and said that joining SpaceX would enable it to “access the largest fleet of graphics processing units in the world.”

The company added, “SpaceX is building the computing capabilities needed to scale artificial intelligence to levels far beyond what exists today. The Cerebras Engine will be one of the places where this information becomes useful.”
