According to the website "9to5mac," for example, while reviewing food components, you can ask AirPods for dinner meal suggestions or specific nutritional information. It can also be integrated with other apps on an iPhone, such as reminders and maps.

In terms of design, it is said that the camera-equipped AirPods will have longer stems than regular AirPods Pro to accommodate the cameras. They will also contain a small LED light that automatically lights up when the cameras capture data.

AirPods with cameras were scheduled for release in 2026, but recent reports indicate a delay until late 2027 due to delays in Apple's AI technologies and Siri.

Other AirPods updates

Apple released an update for AirPods Max earlier this year, equipping them with the H2 chip, a new high-dynamic-range amplifier, improved sound quality, and other features.

Apple released the AirPods 4 in two different versions in November 2024, and there are currently no rumors about an update to Apple’s cheaper AirPods. The AirPods Pro 3 were released last fall with an improved in-ear design, enhanced sound quality, and a built-in heart rate monitor.

It remains unclear where camera-equipped AirPods would fit into Apple's lineup. It is possible that they will be released as "AirPods Pro 4" or perhaps as a high-end AirPods Ultra product.
