Apple has released a new public beta version of the firmware for AirPods this week, adding a long-awaited feature to supported AirPods models: Custom Audio Equalizer.

Custom Audio Equalizer is available in these versions of AirPods

According to 9to5mac, the public beta version of AirPods is firmware version 9.0.314 with build number 9A314b, and it is available for the following AirPods models:

• AirPods Pro 3
• AirPods Pro 2 (Lightning and USB-C)
• AirPods 4
• AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation
• AirPods Max 2

You can activate the public beta version of AirPods through the Settings app on your iPhone.
When you connect your AirPods, there will be a button in the Settings app to activate the beta firmware, and then the beta versions will be downloaded and installed when the AirPods are in their charging case and near the paired iPhone.

How do I use Custom Audio Equalizer?

• Open the Settings app.
• Tap Bluetooth.
• Tap the (i) icon next to your AirPods.
• Scroll down and enable “AirPods Beta Updates”.
• The Custom Audio Equalizer feature is now available in AirPods.

You now have more control over the sound quality of your AirPods thanks to new controls in the custom equalizer. In the Settings app, you can adjust the low, mid, and high frequencies for your AirPods.

While adjusting the custom equalizer settings, you can play a song from Apple Music directly from the Settings app to hear the adjustments in real-time.
