Snapchat has added a new feature that allows users to plan real-life events and meetings, and organize invitations directly from within the app. This step enhances the platform's use for communication outside of the digital world.

The feature is called "Snap Map" and allows organizing events with up to 200 participants. Users can create a new event from their profile section under "My Plan," then send invitations to friends via private messages.

After receiving an invitation, participants can indicate their position regarding the event by confirming attendance, apologizing, or choosing "maybe." Snapchat also adds its own touch by providing cover photos inspired by Bitmoji characters to customize events.

The company says that all events are private and can only be seen by the creator and those invited. Invitees can view a list of participants.

Useful feature lacking an essential element

Although Snapchat relies heavily on maps and geographic location for some of its services, "Snap Map" does not currently allow adding the event's location.

The company explained that it is working to add location information in the future but has not yet revealed how this feature will be integrated with Snapchat's map.

The feature reflects a clear direction from Snapchat towards encouraging users to turn digital conversations into real-life meetings, especially since the company says that more than one third of its core users already rely on group chats to plan for meetings and activities.
