SpaceXAI has stated that its new artificial intelligence, Grok 4.5, is designed “to handle difficult and long-term tasks,” particularly in software engineering, with potential applications in legal and financial work as well. The company used the launch to demonstrate examples of one-click application building, including a simulation of the solar system with adjustable time and realistic movement.

According to Indiatoday, SpaceXAI has added that Grok 4.5 is now the default model in Grok Build, capable of creating complex Excel models using online search and multi-page formulas, note-taking for later reference, generating charts in PowerPoint, and writing clear text in Word.

SpaceXAI also shared performance test results for Grok 4.5. In the standard DeepSWE 1.0 AI programming benchmark, the Grok 4.5 model outperformed the Anthropic Opus 4.8 model, coming just behind OpenAI’s GPT-5.5. Grok 4.5 was trained on tens of thousands of advanced Nvidia GB300 graphics processing units.

SpaceXAI’s model also comes with enhanced capabilities in the field of cybersecurity. Cursor has announced that it has taken steps “to detect and block malicious actors while maintaining legitimate business operations, including identifying and addressing security vulnerabilities, with restrictions on workflows that could cause harm.”

This comes at a time when the US government previously restricted access to models like Claude Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 due to cybersecurity concerns, but the United States has since allowed both models to be made publicly available.

This release is part of a broader effort by Musk’s company to catch up in the AI race and gain more business clients, as Elon Musk said earlier this year that his artificial intelligence startup, known as xAI before its merger with SpaceX, was behind on software development, leading to changes in the workforce.

SpaceXAI released its first programming agent in May to compete with Anthropic’s products. Grok 4.5 is now available on Grok Build and Cursor across all packages and via the SpaceXAI platform, although it is not yet available in the European Union.
