The app was developed by Marco Arment, known for apps like Overcast and Instapaper, after he found Apple’s built-in “Reminders” app didn’t fit his daily task management needs.

Notifications that persist even when ignored

The core idea of Unforgetful is simple: When the app reminds you of a task, it keeps sending notifications until the task is completed or deleted. So ignoring one notification won’t make the task disappear and get forgotten.

The app also changes how the “Snooze” button works, with delays getting longer each time a task is snoozed. It ensures that too many tasks aren't shown at once to avoid overwhelming users.

One of its key features is that it works with Apple’s built-in Reminders database, so users don’t need to re-enter or move their tasks into a new app. Users can continue adding reminders using Siri in the usual way.

Simple design and practical benefits

Unforgetful doesn't try to offer dozens of organizational tools; instead, it focuses on one key function: ensuring users are reminded about their tasks. As a result, there aren’t many categories or complex views.

The app also includes a special microphone for creating voice reminders, as well as mini-tools that can be used from the lock screen and control center.
