Apple announced the addition of new texture and grain control tools within the Photographic Styles feature on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Photographic Styles act as pre-set color and tonal settings that adjust color gradients and warmth in real-time at the moment of capture, rather than being processed as post-capture filters, while fully preserving natural skin tones without distortion.

The new control elements are based on a completely redesigned computational photography path for the main camera Fusion with 48MP resolution, which the company explained provides sharper and more detailed shots allowing users to have greater creative flexibility in adjusting the visual tone and customizing the final appearance of the image with pinpoint accuracy. Apple has not yet revealed whether previous models like iPhone 17 Pro that support the latest versions of Photographic Styles will receive texture and grain features later through software updates or if they will remain exclusive to the new flagship devices.
