Apple announced the new Audio Intelligence feature pack, supported by Apple Intelligence capabilities for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, which leverages the built-in microphone to help users follow conversation details and pay attention to important surrounding sounds. The package includes four key features with Siri Recap being a leading feature that relies on smart listening to the surroundings to record notes and summaries of the main points from daily conversations such as business meetings and appointments, producing a title with a summary and specific points that can be reviewed within the new Siri app. It also includes Live Rewind which allows going back in time for 15 seconds to display a quick text transcript of what was said moments ago by pressing the Digital Crown twice, along with integrating the Shazam tool for automatic music recognition and displaying its data within the Smart Stack package, and Sound Recognition which provides customized alerts to assist the deaf and hard of hearing when it detects alarm sounds, or alarm clocks, or doorbells, or children’s cries without the need for an iPhone nearby.

Apple confirmed that enabling the Siri Recap feature is entirely up to the user's choice, allowing them to specify times and places for note-taking, either by keeping it on all the time or scheduling it within specific contexts such as work hours while turning it off during the night. It can be controlled at any moment through the Control Center. The company emphasized its privacy standards, as none of the system's features create or store audio recordings. Raw audio is processed within a secure hardware isolation space called Secure Exclave on the S11 chip, and audio data is deleted immediately after processing to prevent access.

The Audio Intelligence features and Siri AI assistant require an iPhone with Apple Intelligence support. The Live Rewind and Siri Recap features are limited to iPhone 16 and later models, excluding the iPhone 16e These features will be released as a trial version later this year in English first before adding other languages in future stages. They will initially be blocked within European Union countries.
