Apple has confirmed the application of daily usage limits to Siri AI capabilities and several Apple Intelligence features based on cloud server processing, with expanded access available in the future for a fee. This disclosure was made as part of the terms accompanying the announcement of health sensor features for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. The daily restrictions include Siri AI, intelligent image editing tools, the Image Playground app for generating images, and the Apple Foundation Cloud (AFM 3) models used through the Shortcuts app.

Apple has explained that the daily limits will vary depending on the nature of the feature, the complexity of the request, and the pressure on the system, as well as operational policies. Although Apple did not disclose details about the additional fees or how they would be collected, it had previously hinted during the WWDC developer conference that higher iCloud+ packages would include expanded access to cloud-constrained AI features. iOS 17, which comes with the Siri AI assistant, will officially launch on Monday, September 14, before the new Apple Watch models and iPhones become available in markets on Friday, September 18.
