Apple is preparing to launch a new version of iMac equipped with the M6 chip before the end of the year, along with new color options, according to a report published by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

The iMac has not seen regular updates in recent years, as Apple skipped over the M2 and M5 generations, nor did it offer a version with a larger screen. Instead, users seeking higher performance have turned towards Mac Studio or Mac mini with Studio Display.

The new version will receive some new color options, without revealing details in the report. Apple adjusted the color grades in the M4 update in 2024, while maintaining the same seven options.

It is expected that the fall season will witness a range of new Mac releases, including MacBook Pro with an updated design and touch screen and Tandem OLED technology, along with a new version of MacBook Pro measuring 14 inches with the M6 chip, in addition to potential updates for Mac Studio and Mac mini.

The M6 chip will be the first Mac processor based on a 2-nanometer manufacturing process. Leaks indicate that Apple may skip over the M6 Pro, M6 Max, and M6 Ultra versions, moving faster to the M7 series.
