According to current Apple service estimates, the cost of repairing other damages outside the warranty period is $599, excluding AppleCare+.

The price for the ceramic version of the watch starts at $899, meaning that its repair could cost about two-thirds of its purchase price. In contrast, the aluminum Series 12 starts at $399, while the titanium model begins at $699.

Repair Costs Exceed Apple Watch Ultra 4

Interestingly, repairing similar damages in the Apple Watch Ultra 4 costs around $549, which is $50 less than the cost of repairing the ceramic version of Series 12. Despite this, the price for Ultra 4 starts at $799.

The situation changes when you subscribe to AppleCare+, as the repair fees for accidental damage in the ceramic version drop to $69. Therefore, subscribing to the service could be a significant option for those who purchase the watch at a high price and want to minimize the risk of repair costs.

Ceramic Means Heavier Watch

The compromises don’t end with the repair cost. The ceramic version is heavier and slightly larger than the aluminum and titanium models. The 46mm ceramic model weighs 52.9 grams, compared to 39.5 grams for aluminum and 44.9 grams for titanium.

Nevertheless, the ceramic version remains the most distinctive in Series 12’s lineup, especially with this design returning to Apple watches after years of absence. However, its high purchase price and significant repair cost make it a suitable option primarily for those who specifically want the ceramic design.
