Sony is preparing to add a new member to the Xperia series next week, after the company announced a new launch event on Tuesday, August 25th.

Sony will broadcast the event live on YouTube, starting at 11:00 AM Japan time, which is 4:00 AM CEST in Europe on August 26th.

Sony has not explicitly revealed the phone it will announce during the event, but recent leaks suggest that it could be the Xperia 10 VIII (MK8).

Sony launched the Xperia 10 VII (MK7) in September of last year, which means that the launch of the new generation will come about a month earlier than usual.

According to a recent test result on Geekbench, the Xperia 10 VIII will rely on the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip used by the previous generation, indicating that improvements in the new phone may focus on other aspects rather than providing a significant performance upgrade.
