This Mediatek topic reveals new versions of Dimensity 9600 inspired by Apple’s strategy appeared on Tech News Today.

The latest leaks from China indicate that Mediatek is preparing to launch the Dimensity 9600 processor this year, but the surprise lies in the fact that the series may include three different versions instead of one.

According to the leak, the first version will be called Dimensity 9600s, which is described as an enhanced version of Dimensity 9500, or what can be considered Dimensity 9500+. This version will still rely on a 3nm manufacturing precision.

The main series will be released in two versions:

• Dimensity 9600 Pro
• Dimensity 9600 Pro Max

Information indicates that both versions will be manufactured using the TSMC technology with a precision of 2nm, with a difference between them in the configuration of the central processing unit (CPU).

This step is part of a strategy similar to what Qualcomm is rumored to be doing, which is expected to offer two versions of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor. However, Mediatek will use the Pro and Pro Max names instead of regular and Pro version.

The source added that Dimensity 9600s won’t be able to compete with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, which is logical given that it relies on a 3nm manufacturing precision, compared to the 2nm precision of Qualcomm's new processors.

On the other hand, the Dimensity 9600 Pro is expected to be a direct competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, while the Dimensity 9600 Pro Max will face off against the stronger version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

The Dimensity 9600 processors are expected to make their debut in smartphones launching in September, with the Vivo X500 series and the Oppo Find X10 series at the forefront.
