The IP6X classification provides tight protection against dust, preventing any fine particles from entering, a critical point in foldable phones to avoid dust infiltrating joints and causing mechanical failures. In terms of liquid resistance, the IPX8 rating allows the device to withstand water up to 6 meters deep for up to 30 minutes, matching the standard adopted in regular iPhones.

Despite this rating, Apple clarified that water and dust resistance is not a permanent feature and may degrade over time due to usage and natural wear.
