Dubai, July 14 (WAM) - The Youth Council of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organized "AI Hackathon for Autonomous Execution and Leadership" to mark World Youth Skills Day 2026 on July 15 every year.

The event was held at the Sail Building, DEWA's new headquarters, over three days with the participation of more than 50 young employees of the Authority.

The event included practical workshops and interactive competitions on advanced artificial intelligence technologies and methodologies to raise awareness among youth about autonomous execution and leadership in AI, enhance their skills, and enable them to develop success stories and innovative solutions based on AI.

Specialists supervised the evaluation of the solutions and ideas presented by young people to proactively address various types of challenges and ensure they maximize the opportunities provided by artificial intelligence.

"Under the guidance of the wise leadership, we are committed to empowering youth and expanding their horizons in practical ways to deal with AI systems, as well as using its tools effectively," said His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA. "This will enable them to tackle challenges efficiently, responsibly, and safely, and meet the requirements of the future economy."

She added that as the first government institution in the UAE to employ self-executing and autonomous AI within its work system, and one of the first service institutions globally to adopt its solutions to enhance operational efficiency, we at the Authority believe that enhancing young people’s interaction with the latest models of self-executing and autonomous AI will contribute to supporting their implementation and decision-making independently.

For her part, Aisha Mohammed Al Ramithi, Chairman of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority Youth Council said that since the Authority began its journey in artificial intelligence in 2017, we have been committed to keeping pace with the Authority’s strategic trends and operational priorities through anchoring young people’s contribution to driving AI, innovation, and digital transformation.
