Polestar's decision to withdraw from the US market and stop selling its cars there has raised widespread concern among its car owners and agents, amid worries about after-sales services, long-term support, and the value of the cars when resold.

The decision came after the US Department of Commerce refused to grant the company a permit to sell its new models starting from 2027, based on connected car rules that consider the presence of Chinese components or software in cars as a threat to national security, especially since the Chinese Geely Group owns a large stake in Polestar.

The company also noted that its operations in the United States were not profitable, confirming that it would focus in the future on the European market, which represents the largest share of its sales.

Although Polestar has pledged to continue providing warranty and maintenance services for Polestar 2, 3, and 4 cars, many customers have expressed concern about the depreciation of their cars and the difficulty in obtaining spare parts in the future.

The company also announced that it would continue selling the current inventory of Polestar 3 and 4 models with significant discounts until quantities are depleted.

Some owners described themselves as “bearing the loss,” with one customer confirming that he bought a used certified Polestar 2 before the decision was announced, only to find its market value suddenly declining without any compensation.
