AirPods with integrated cameras have been spotted in a leaked video, reviving talk of Apple’s mysterious camera-based headphone project, despite recent reports suggesting that it may be canceled.

Apple has been working on developing AirPods with cameras for some time, but an earlier report claimed that the rumored AirPods Ultra project had been canceled. However, a new video now showcases the headphones with cameras in action.

MacRumors discovered the test video within the latest Release Candidate version of macOS 26.7. In the short clip, a person wearing the headphones picks up a book and asks a question, before a recorded voice explains how Visual Intelligence can be used to save things that users see for later retrieval.

This aligns with previous reports indicating that Apple will primarily use cameras to enhance Siri and Visual Intelligence. The feature is expected to enable the assistant to analyze the user’s surroundings through cameras and provide information related to what they see, while the cameras won't be used for taking photos.

The experimental version of macOS 26.7 also includes direct references to setting up Visual Intelligence on AirPods, alongside the internal code B790, which is believed to refer to the next generation of headphones.

MacRumors also discovered a notification asking the user to make sure that the AirPods are not covered, in order to get more accurate information about objects in their surroundings, which enhances the future headphones' connection with camera-based vision capabilities.

The site believes Apple may reveal camera-equipped AirPods alongside the iPhone 18 Pro line during next September, but a recent report from Mark Gurman suggested that the company may have delayed the release of the headphones until late 2027.
