Dubai, December 15 (WAM) - The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai (RTA), in collaboration with the digital platform for road freight, Tracker, has launched the Logistic digital platform in partnership with the private sector to provide commercial transport services to clients and businesses, manage the fleet of commercial logistic vehicles, and provide on-demand booking and tracking service.

The platform contributes to a qualitative leap in the logistics sector, enhancing Dubai's position as a leading destination for logistics services in the region, redefining the process of transporting goods in Dubai, connecting clients with providers of commercial transport services, and improving user experience through efficient, easy, and reliable services.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors at RTA, said that launching Logistic platform is a reflection of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai's vision to enhance Dubai’s global competitiveness as a leading center for finance, business, and economy, and support the D33 economic agenda aimed at establishing Dubai as one of the top three economic cities in the world.

He added that it also aligns with the Road Freight and Logistics Strategy 2030 and its roadmap and related projects, which aim to double the direct contribution of the road freight and logistics sector to the emirate’s economy to AED 16.8 billion, increase technology adoption in the sector's infrastructure by 75%, and improve operational efficiency by 10%.

He emphasized that the launch of "Logisti" platform demonstrates the Authority's commitment to providing innovative and high-quality solutions, putting the needs of the population at the heart of its operations, as well as strengthening partnerships with the private sector through cooperation with Tracker Company to benefit from advanced technology provided by it in the field of logistics services. This will offer technical solutions for companies and traders characterized by transparency, security, and efficiency.

He noted that the platform contributes to enhancing operational efficiency in the logistics sector through the adoption of technology in its operations, activities, and services. There are more than 10,000 commercial transport companies in Dubai, recording a compound annual growth rate of 34% over the past five years.

The platform includes advanced technological features and a "CBM" calculator supported by artificial intelligence, which allows traders to estimate the size of the shipment to be transported by uploading images or videos. It will provide advanced solutions for cargo transportation and transport services, keeping pace with the latest innovations in this field.

The commercial transport activities sector is experiencing continuous economic growth, especially with the acceleration of e-commerce growth over the past two years. Dubai is a major logistics hub for shipping and distribution in the region. The total number of registered commercial vehicles reached 351,000, contributing to providing more than 242,000 job opportunities.

The transport and storage sector witnessed significant growth in 2023, achieving an added value of AED 31.4 billion, accounting for 42.8% of Dubai's gross domestic product. The sector recorded the highest growth rate in the second quarter of this year, reaching 7.8%.

The platform will officially launch its services to traders in December 2024, providing advanced solutions for cargo transportation that keep pace with the latest innovations in this field.
