Activision and Treyarch have announced the official release of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, allowing players from both platforms to experience these classic parts for the first time without needing PS3 consoles. The announcement regarding the PlayStation versions came last month, before they became available now through the PlayStation Store.

Black Ops and Black Ops 2 Prices on PlayStation

Each game is available for $39.99 from the PlayStation Store, while PlayStation Plus subscribers receive a 50% discount until August 8, reducing the price of each game to $19.99. Activision confirmed that the two games are not available as a single package; rather, each title must be purchased separately.

Players can also purchase a Season Pass for each game to access additional content (DLC). Each season pass costs $29.99, while PlayStation Plus subscribers receive a discount of up to 67%, reducing the price to $9.89 for a limited time. The company clarified that the new releases are not remastered versions and do not offer any graphical improvements or exclusive features for PS4 and PS5 consoles. However, both versions include all core gameplay modes, including the campaign mode (Campaign), multiplayer (Multiplayer), and zombie mode (Zombies).

Why are the two games being released now?

Call of Duty: Black Ops was first released in 2010, while Black Ops II hit the market in 2012 on PC and PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The two games were not previously available on PS4 or PS5 because the platforms did not support running PS3 games. This led Activision to release customized versions that allow them to run on newer hardware.
