Instagram has announced the launch of a new set of features tailored for users of Meta’s smart glasses, including Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta, aimed at enhancing the experience of creating and sharing stories. The updates enable users to produce more professional and interactive content through new video editing tools and innovative ways to display stories.

Interactive View Feature and More Immersive Camera Experience

One of the most notable additions is the Spin View feature, or “rotating view,” which allows viewers of stories to explore the scene from different angles by moving their phones while watching. This provides a more interactive experience compared to traditional stories. Instagram has also added the Multi-Cam feature, which enables the integration of footage captured by Meta glasses with video recorded on a smartphone within one story. The two recordings are automatically synchronized to show two different angles of the scene at the same time.

Advanced Editing Tools for Content Creators

The updates also include new tools for editing videos captured by smart glasses, such as the Expand tool for adjusting the frame and focusing on the main element, the Audio tool for enhancing audio quality and reducing ambient noise, and the Speed tool for controlling video playback speed to suit the nature of the story.

Instagram explained that all these tools are now available through the Stories editor within the app, where users can select photos and videos captured with Meta glasses, which appear with a distinctive marker in the photo gallery, then access the new features directly to create more professional and interactive stories. This step reflects the company's focus on supporting content creators and expanding the potential of smart glasses in producing digital content.
