A new report revealed that Samsung plans to provide the Privacy Display feature in all Galaxy S27 series phones, after it was exclusively introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra phone.

The feature allows users to temporarily reduce the viewing angle of the screen so they can read notifications or display sensitive information while making it difficult for surrounding people to see the content on the screen.

It was expected that the feature would remain exclusive to Ultra phones, but the report confirms that it will be available in all Galaxy S27 models, including the basic version, which is unusual as the standard model often lacks some advanced features.

The report also noted that Samsung had been considering using BOE screens on the basic Galaxy S27 phone to reduce costs, but the deal was not finalized and the company ultimately settled on relying on Samsung Display screens.

According to SigmaIntel data, approximately one million phones with the Privacy Display feature were shipped in 2025, most of which were targeted at the business sector. However, the launch of the Galaxy S26 Ultra contributed to the spread of the technology among regular users.

The report predicts that the number of phones equipped with this feature will rise to 21 million units this year and then to 29 million next year.

And Samsung is not the only company planning to introduce this technology. Leaks indicate that companies like Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo, and Vivo are also working on developing a similar feature for their upcoming flagship smartphones.

The technology is expected to eventually reach foldable phones, but screen manufacturers still face challenges related to its impact on display resolution, brightness, and power consumption, as it relies on dividing the screen into two different types of pixels to restrict the viewing angle.
