Sony RX10 V camera with 25x zoom lens is close to launch, according to leaks from TechRadar.

The latest leaks indicate that Sony is preparing to launch the compact RX10 V camera soon, nearly nine years after the release of the RX10 IV. The official announcement is expected on July 9.

According to the information, Sony will focus on improving performance in the new generation rather than changing hardware. The camera is expected to be equipped with a newer processor that provides faster autofocus and image processing speeds.

It is also expected that the camera will use the larger NP-FZ100 battery, which offers more than double the capacity of the previous generation’s battery, along with a USB-C port. Wireless communication technologies are updated to newer standards.

On the other hand, leaks indicate that the RX10 V will retain the same sensor as the 20.1-megapixel 1-inch sensor, along with the same lens that provides an equivalent focal length of 24 to 600 mm, with a 25x optical zoom.

This lens gives the camera a clear advantage over flagship smartphones in terms of zoom range. It also supports macro photography with the ability to focus on objects just 3 centimeters away.

However, the camera may seem late to the competition if it doesn’t receive additional improvements, especially since the previous generation only supports 4K video recording at a rate of 30 frames per second. It comes with an OLED viewfinder that is relatively low in resolution and a card reader that supports the old UHS-I standard.
