WhatsApp is now working on designing more user interface elements, following the initial launch of its “Liquid Glass” design on iOS earlier this year. The app is expanding the “Liquid Glass” design to include more parts of the application, including the drawing editor and video player.

According to 9to5mac, the app launched an early version of “Liquid Glass” for a wider audience earlier this year after testing it for over six months. At that time, the company was also working on applying the new design to elements such as the voice message player, reaction buttons, and context menus, although these changes remained limited to the beta version.

New Design Changes in WhatsApp

According to WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS shows that the company is preparing to apply the “Liquid Glass” appearance to more user interface elements, specifically the drawing editor and the video player progress bar. The drawing editor allows users to add comments or edit images, videos, and GIFs before sharing them. At the top of this screen, users can find buttons to add text, draw, and place stickers.

WhatsApp is currently updating these buttons to match the “liquid glass” design. In the future, the video player will be another screen that will also match the “liquid glass” design. When a video is opened, a progress bar at the top of the screen will show the playback position. WhatsApp is currently updating this progress bar to match the “liquid glass” design as well.
