RedMagic has officially unveiled its Gaming Tablet 5 Pro in the Chinese market, with plans to release it globally later as the RedMagic Astra 2, targeting gaming enthusiasts with its specifications.

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and offers up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage.

It features a 9.06-inch OLED display with a 2.4K resolution, an 185Hz refresh rate (up from 165Hz in the previous generation), and a Synaptics touch controller supporting up to 300Hz touch response.

RedMagic equipped the device with its RedCore R4 gaming chip, an active liquid cooling system, RGB lighting for gaming, and a unique design showcasing part of the cooling system on the back.

One of the most notable new features is support for a PC emulator with the Steam platform, allowing users to run x86 applications and games through an integrated translation layer within the Game Space app. Games can be played at up to 2K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.

The device has an 8300mAh battery that supports fast charging with a power of 80 watts, and it comes with two USB-C ports: one supporting the maximum charging speed via USB 3.2, while the other allows for both charging the device and connecting peripherals simultaneously.

The Gaming Tablet 5 Pro is available in silver and black, with prices starting at CN¥4,999 for the 12/256GB version in China, going up to CN¥6,999 for the top-of-the-line model with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB storage capacity. Shipping is set to begin on July 7.
